Questions we hear most
Do I need to be fit or to have trained before?
No. Fundamentals starts from a stance and a first strike, and every drill has an easier version.
What is a class like?
A warm-up, one drill with a partner, a technique shown twice and practiced slowly, then short timed rounds on the pads and a cool-down.
What are the drills?
Short partner exercises: an awareness drill that scans a room, a distance drill with a pad, footwork patterns, pad work, escapes and pressure rounds.
How old do I have to be?
Teens aged 13 to 17 have their own class. The other classes are for ages 16 and up.
Who is the women's class for?
Women aged 16 and up, at any level. Tuesday is a beginner class; Thursday and Saturday are open to every level.
Can I train early or at lunch?
Yes. Fundamentals runs at 6 a.m. and at 12:15 p.m. on weekdays.
How does membership work?
Choose month to month, a six-month plan or a ten-class pass. Each plan has its own term and cancellation notice.
How do I stop or pause?
Tell us in writing 30 days ahead. The month in progress is billed as usual, and we can talk through pausing for illness, injury or travel.
